epitalon

LONGEVITY · PINEAL TETRAPEPTIDE · 4 AA

also: Epithalon · Epithalamin (the related pineal extract) · AEDG peptide

Epitalon is a synthetic tetrapeptide modelled on epithalamin, a pineal gland extract developed by Vladimir Khavinson's group in St Petersburg, and is claimed to activate telomerase and act as a geroprotector. Reported effects include telomere elongation in cultured human fibroblasts and modest maximum-lifespan extension in mice, but essentially all of this work originates from one research group and has not been independently replicated.

// our evidence grade — unedited

Every substantive lifespan and telomerase claim traces to a single St Petersburg research group publishing in Russian journals, with no Western replication in the two decades since, and the strongest reported effect was on maximum rather than mean lifespan.

We grade this compound and we sell it. The grade is set against our published criteria before any stocking decision and is not adjusted because it is in the catalogue.
